A STONE COLD BEAUTY THAT SOUNDS AS GOOD AS IT LOOKS!!!
Serial # JT-03052xxx (2003)
Better than New with upgrades (TV Jones HiLo-Trons)
Built by Gretsch in 2003, this guitar represents some of Gretsch’s finest reissue work for classic Gretsch guitars. Serial number is: JT03052xxx. This and all of the Gretsch classic reissues are built in Gretsch’s Japanese facility (Fender Japan), home to some of the best luthiers in the world. Attention to detail and quality is beyond belief.
I set out to replicate as perfectly as possible the Shea Stadium George Harrison Tennessean using the Gretsch 6119-1962HT Reissue as our base. To accomplish this, I changed out the factory Japanese pickups in favor of USA-made TV Jones HiLo-Trons. Original receipt made out to me from TV Jones is included. (The original pickups are included too and they are really great, just not quite as great as the TV Jones – mainly due to lower output). The TV Jones HiLo-Trons are voiced precisely the same as the original Gretsch Hi-Lo Trons of the early 1960’s. Then we located an actual Tennessean Pick Guard (which was NOS “New Old Stock”) to give it the true Tennessean signature. Finally, for tuning stability, my tech perfectly intonated the guitar and then anchored the floating (ie unattached to the body) bridge with removable two sided sticky tape (no holes were drilled, so this mod is completely reversible if you don’t like it). The bridge stays put – unlike the floating bridges on these guitars, which can move and dramatically affect the tuning of the guitar.
There is zero detectable fret wear and the body and case are in great condition too. There are some very faint scratches in the back, but these are so minor that the camera will not pick them up. Most of the guitars at Guitar Center have more light scratches than this guitar does.
I am completely confident in saying that if you are looking for an absolutely stellar example of a Tennessee Rose, with some very-carefully-selected upgrades which raise its sonic performance and appearance to the standard of original Tennessean (from which the Tennessee Rose Reissue is replicated), you have found the guitar.
